Formerly called Myoma, Bermuda Dunes was developed in 1962. The name originated from the Bermuda Dunes Country Club, a golf course community first opened in 1960 and the former site of the Bob Hope Chrysler Golf Classic, a PGA tour event. The Bermuda Dunes Country Club has the unique distinction of having hosted The Bob Hope Chrysler Classic since its inception and continued its involvement with the tournament for 49 years.
Surrounded by gorgeous views of the San Jacinto Mountains, rolling fairways, and fresh water lakes, some of golf’s greatest talents and world renowned PGA Tour professionals have played the 27-holes of championship golf at the Bermuda Dunes Country Club. Golf icons such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Johnny Miller, Corey Pavin, John Cook, Phil Mickelson and scores of others have added to the rich history of this Bermuda Dunes course.
Bermuda Dunes is also home to the Bermuda Dunes Airport. The airport is privately owned by the Bermuda Dunes Airport Corporation and is a fixed-base operator (FBO ) available for public use. The airport is located 13 nautical miles(15 mi, 24 km) east of the central business district of Palm Springs, and is home to Desert West Aviation, a local flight school as well as Desert Jet, a local aircraft charter company. The airport services also include rental vehicles for crew and passengers including large SUV’s, luxury and exotics and a first class catering service. The Bermuda Dunes Airport has been servicing aircraft from around the world for over fifty years.
